Meet Our Team

Harmonic Design is a dream team. Four amazing craftsmen, each having many years of fine-woodworking experience, partnered together to provide Whatcom County’s premier full-service cabinet shop in 2024. Meet JR, Pred, Dave, Kyle, and their employees by clicking the Meet The Team link below.

John Rutter

John Rutter

Our solid wood milling and door manufacturing lead, John got his start in business designing and maintaining ISO 9001 quality systems. In 2006, John Incorporated Harmonic Design as a cabinet door and millwork business serving local shops. With a solid wood equipment investment far exceeding what cabinet shops typically allocate, combined with a systems approach to door production, he established a presence as a high quality alternative to mass-produced fronts. Around this time, he began to collaborate with Pred Vadjic to create door packages that featured grain matching of door panels, with custom details for every job. Ultimately, he and Pred decided to combine forces and offer a vertically integrated custom cabinet solution. He has lived in Bellingham and been pedaling Galbraith since 1990.

Dave Sears

Dave Sears

Our CNC lead, Dave Sears’ love of the outdoors and travel brought him to Bellingham 25 years ago where he graduated from Western Washington University with a Resource Management degree and a focus in Sustainable Design. He integrated these and other skills into 30 years of construction experience focusing on finish details and maximizing spaces. With an engineering mindset, Dave has invested significant time into the CAD/CAM aspects of cabinet design and construction. The combination of precision and innovation that he brings to the shop is reflected in the final product.

Kyle Breakey

Kyle Breakey

Our lead installer, Kyle Breakey, moved to Bellingham in 2004 after growing up in small town Eastern Washington. With experience managing teams and precision equipment in an analytical laboratory setting, he brings a systematic approach to turning a construction site into a stunning finished space. When not working on a project, he enjoys skiing, climbing, and everything else outdoors. He is on the Mt. Baker volunteer ski patrol, instructs climbing courses for the Mountaineers, and is an active member of Bellingham Mountain Rescue. Most importantly, he has an amazing partner and puppy dog at home that act as his main adventure buddies!

Pred Vadjic

Pred Vadjic

Predrag (Pred) wears many hats, including sales and customer service, project management, and conceptual design. He moved to Bellingham from Croatia in 1992 after the war. He began working in a cabinet shop while waiting to establish residency to complete his degree in mechanical engineering. Working in ultra high-end projects in the Seattle area honed his meticulous eye for detail and precise craftsmanship. He discovered many ways to connect engineering principles with high end cabinet production, finishing processes, and systematizing installation. Combining his desire for efficiency with his passion for cooking and entertaining results in kitchen designs that feature smooth workflow and spaces for people to interact naturally and easily.
